Valle Poniente is a mixed-use residential development located to the west of the city of Monterrey, on a 316-hectare plot of land. The challenge was to develop and coordinate a Master Plan for multiple owners integrated through a main road axis, which is the Prolongación Alfonso Reyes avenue, connecting the southern area of the metropolitan area from east to west. Along this corridor, mixed-use developments and a developing urban subcenter are being developed.

Prolongación Alfonso Reyes was designed as a generous 60-meter-wide roadway with a continuous 20-meter linear park that stretches for 2.8 km. The linear park has been intensively planted with vegetation consisting of grass, lavender, and rosemary, as well as a diversity of succulents and cacti. The tree planting consists of oaks, mesquites, palo verde, and acacias, with a public path for walking and a circuit for running.

Our firm was responsible for designing the Cordillera Residential development. The main emphasis in urban design was the recognition and incorporation of all the streams and canyons that come down from the Sierra. This leads to a system of green areas: continuous parks, ecological preservation green areas, and trails that form the basis of the residential structure. Valle Poniente is a mixed-use residential development adapted topographically to the hills of the beautiful Huasteca canyon.

The new avenue achieves a unique visual and vegetal quality, having become a reference point in the metropolitan area of Monterrey.
